Common Foot Complaints

Ingrown toenails

Please book a New Patient appointment to discuss treatment options.

I understand how painful ingrowing toenails can be, and I offer conservative management treatments, such as nail cutting and maintenance, which can be done during routine appointments.

I also offer nail surgery, if the best treatment is to remove the nail that is causing the problem.

Each case is different, and we discuss treatment options during an assessment appointment, or routine podiatry appointment.

*Please note that if anaesthetic is required during the treatment, this has an additional charge of £60.

**If nail surgery is required, a specific nail surgery appointment will be needed at an additional charge of £400 per toe - this includes all required treatment, and three aftercare check ups to make sure the surgery is healing as expected.

Foot Pain/ MSK (musculoskeletal)
podiatry

Please book an MSK podiatry appointment to discuss treatment options

Foot and heel pain can affect every step of your day. At Solestice Podiatry I take time to really understand what's going on for you before creating a treatment plan that fits your life.

Foot pain and heel pain may be caused by overuse injuries, including sprains and strains, bone fractures, arthritis, or problems with nerves.

I undertake in-depth foot and ankle assessments to come to a diagnosis. I can then use this diagnosis to inform the treatment plan that is best for you. If necessary, I might inform your GP if I feel that onward referral is the right course of action.

For symptoms of foot and leg pain such as heel pain, plantar fasciitis, sciatica, tendinopathies and osteoarthritis, where appropriate, I might suggest stretching and strengthening exercises, the use of orthotic insoles, acupuncture and manual therapies such as joint mobilisation and manipulation.

Verrucae

Please book a New Patient assessment and cryosurgery to discuss treatment options.

My go-to treatment for verrucae is CryoPen cryosurgery.

CryoPen delivers an ultra-cold, precisely targeted jet of nitrous oxide gas at -89°C directly onto the verruca, with millimetre accuracy that protects the healthy surrounding skin. The extreme cold causes ice crystals to form inside the infected cells, rupturing and destroying them. Freezing the viral tissue also releases antigens into the bloodstream, prompting the immune system to recognise and fight the remaining Human Papillomavirus (HPV).

Where there is a build-up of hard skin overlying the verruca, this will be removed before treatment using a scalpel blade. This is a painless procedure.
Stubborn or deep verrucae often need multiple sessions — typically 3 to 5 treatments spaced 2 weeks apart.

Fungal nail infections and athlete's foot

Please book a New Patient appointment to discuss treatment options.

Fungal nail infections and athlete's foot are very common foot problems, and I can usually treat these conditions and maintain foot and nail health during routine podiatry appointments. I supply various topical treatments for both athlete's foot and fungal nail infections for continued treatment at home. If the fungal infection is very long term or stubborn I may request oral anti-fungal medication from your GP. I would then your monitor foot health with regular appointments until the infection has cleared.

Routine Foot Care Appointments

Please book a New Patient appointment if you have not had a podiatry treatment before.  Please book a Returning Patient appointment for on-going foot care appointments at Solestice

These appointments are for regular foot care to help you manage commonly occurring podiatry issues such as corns, callus and long nails and verrucae. I use these appointments to monitor general foot health, in the same way you might have regular check ups with your GP or dentist.

As well as keeping you as comfortable as possible, regular foot care appointments can help to spot any early signs that might need checking by your GP.
